No.  I think they're good, occasionally great - and certainly on an off-day can be better than the strip.  But without accompanying graphic artistry, they're just fluff.  Informative, humorous fluff, but fluff nonetheless.

He could probably spin off babystatus.com and do OK though.  Sell pairs of pajamas with dogs winning prizes on them, like that.

I cynically view that as a box you can look at that tells you why there is no update.

Other than that, it's not content, it's not usually especially funny and it's outside the blogs and comic so it doesn't add to the product.

I like them.  They are usually amusing and you can't deny that sometimes, the man writes a nice sentence.

I dunno, I still get a chuckle over "The baby was kind to everyone."

Agreed. I actually enjoy the hell out of them. It's fun, seeing what is / was no doubt a complex scene or situation boiled down into a simple, formulaic declarative sentence (my all-time favorite: "The baby acted bad at the restaurant").

They're lagniappe. Just whatever flips your switch, I guess.

Yeah, I like the feuilleton of baby quotes.  I wish someone had been keeping track of them since their inception.

My sentiments exactly.  There's no archive so we'll have to start listing them here.*

Do you know what I like?
Onstad's almost autistic observations and that it's not about the baby itself but what it's up to.
We're not smothered by info like names, hair colour etc
I appreciate the updates. They make me chuckle, sometimes even guffaw.

I like how he doesn't treat the baby like a perfect precious angelic object of pure adoration.  He is often annoyed by the baby and points out the baby's bad behaviour.

Yes, Onstad treats the child in a pure and objective way.
For some reason that's funny to me.

I like the baby updates, but must echo the sentiment of acoxcae.  I probably wouldn't seek them out without some kind of accompanying content.

Perhaps a graphic of dogs winning prizes.

What does the verb "clothesline" mean?

A stationary person sticks one arm straight out to his side so that a running person will impact said arm head/upper-torso first a drop backwards to the ground. If the attacker is also moving then it's called a lariat.
