It's the place where we sit while we post here, but I have no clue what any of your desk/workspaces look like.    I'm about to move my new desk in, and also we got camera for X-Mas, so before and after pics are to follow shortly, but please if you can, post a pic of where you're usually sitting when you're posting here.

well, when I went off to school my brother stole my desk chair. When I got home my parents said they'd buy me a new one, but I never followed through as I don't use my desk that often. So, during this whole break, I have been posting sitting on my bed.

at school, I post from my desk. I am pretty sure I have moved some of those posters around, though. For instance, I decided I didn't want two scarlett johanson pictures within eye-shot, so I took down the one next to Cartiledge Head. Now there is a little mini-poster there advertising Jazz at Holmes, a free jazz series that happens every thursday at Holmes Lounge, the prettiest room in the whole world. I love the parts of my campus that are genuinely really old and cool, as opposed to all the new buildings that are fake-old and kind of lame.

Here is my desk. Nothing too fancy. Just some shitty ikea furniture and a random scattering of junk ranging from a xbox controller to a christmas card with the little brother from A Christmas Story. I know it's Janurary, but I just can't take that thing down.

Can't get FTP to work, so I had to put it on Flickr, where it is not nearly as beautiful as the surrounding pugs: The desk of the woman who obviously has too many cartoons stuck on the wall.

Wow, Holmes Lounge is much nicer now than it was in the 80s.

Hey, melack!  We have the same printer!

I used to sit at this desk, but as you can see, my kid took it over when he learned to play videogames.  Also, when I hurt my back this summer I stopped being able to sit in straight-backed chairs, so I have done most of my posting (and written most of my thesis) from my rocking chair.  My favorite part of the chair is that it has fold-out arms to house all that little crap that you want nearby but that falls off the end table.  I always have my cell phone, a (usually empty) cup, a bottle of Tums (oh, dire heartburn of pregnancy) and some cashews within easy reach.  You can also see a part of the sweater I'm knitting to bring Hero home from the hospital in.  The blue bowl is from the pasta I had for lunch, which I have not yet taken to the kitchen because I am lazy.

I will be getting a new end table today, which sat next to my grandmother's rocking chair for over 30 years and housed her crochet works-in-progress for as far back as I can remember.  I'm pretty excited about it, because when the baby arrives, I'll need more space for all the stuff I like to have on hand while nursing -- knitting, lanolin, water bottle, burp cloth, nursing pads, book, TV remote, etc.  Also, it used to be my gramma's, which is neat.

Dang, looking at the pic of my chair makes me realize how bare that corner looks.  I need to get some pictures on the walls.  I have them up in other parts of the room, but never thought to put some near my chair.  I have a Somebody nice the Riveter print that will be just the thing.

Ninja edited to add: great idea, smells!

Click through if you'd like to read my commentary on the various items visible.  I think Melack and I have the same desk from Ikea.

I was wondering that myself.  I suspect the reason it took most people so long to post photos is because they cleaned up first.

I just had to wait for my camera battery to recharge.

mine is not ever that neat, that was the first few days of school. Right now, I think it still has papers strewn across it from the paper I was writing, it has some dirty cups (just from drinking water, so they aren't grody or anything), extra computer cables, and some books on it.

When I lived away from my parents house I had an "office," which was the laundry room where I smoked and could steal internet.  My desk was the washer.  Now I live with my parents and post (a lot more) from the floor or from the garage or from the outside table.  I'll have some pictures later.

Definitely the same surface, though it looks like we have different legs. If I recall, they make you buy those separately.

Here's my desk. It is a wonderful place to sit and post. My desk at work cannot be accessed on the weekends because the building is secured and my card won't work during my non-working hours. So maybe next week you guys will get a photo of my desk at work?

Now that my roommate loaned me a flat panel monitor, the little boys are disgruntled because they can't leap up onto the shelves above. So my firefighter helmet and hats reside up there.

Why is everyone else's desk so neat?

To be honest, I shooed the cats off the desk and cleared some clutter before I took the shot.
